I need everyones help with the site (Pop up Ads)

Looks like we are going to get some help with our problems of ads that open up just because you drag acroos a certain icon. I can't see them any more because I have a blocker.

This the the message I got from the powers that be. Post up any and every time you see this happen with an image of the screen shot and you can PM me the URL and I will forward as needed.

" I'm going to need a couple of things. Could you please ask the members to take screenshots of the problematic ads, to demonstrate to IB how they affect the user experience?

Additionally, if I'm going to have any success finding them, and getting them blocked, I will need the click through URL of the problematic ads. Members can hover their mouse over the offending ad, and right click, and they should have an option to 'copy the link' or 'copy destination URL'. If they can also provide that information, it will make it much, much easier for me to take quick action."

I hope this is what you're looking for

Here's my Control Panel:

The "statistics" word on the tab is hot linked so you can't hit that tab without getting the ad. The only way to get the tab to work is to hover well to the right of the word and click the tab.

I can't get a URL from anything except the Tire Rack ad (see below). Every hot linked word (double underlined in blue) is a VW ad when you hover over it.

Here's your post:

None of the hot linked words in your post can be right clicked to get url's

The Lexus ad at the top cannot be right clicked to get a url.

The Tire Rack ad URL is:

http://cdc-com.ibsrv.net/sponsors/cl...k/TireRack.jpg

Keep em coming guys. Its important that we capture some screen shots and save the image so they can see what we are seeing. The ones they are interested in is any that open themself if you open a page or the worst if you just drag the curser over and it opens.

I cannot tell you how many times (at least 6) that the damn "THE ALL-NEW CADILLAC ATS" pop-up reared its ugly head as I scrolled through this msg thread. It is a pain!

Here's one. You don't have to click on the hot link, just hover over it

Thanks for addressing this problem, Richard! The Cadillac ad is particularly annoying, as it pops up and hovers over any picture in the thread.......extremely distracting. If I'm gonna' buy a Caddy, i'll do it on my own, not because of their persistance with "ugli" ads.....

I am not sure the people placing these ads understand the that if you **** people off they are noy going to buy your product. Seems like a lot of effort and money for sales prevention.
I would never buy a Cadillac now just for this reason. And I have looked at many Cadillac's resently.
So MR ad executive , How did that advertizing work out for you!

Mike

EXACTLY....
The phrase "cramming it down the throat" comes to mind. Not that I can [ever] afford a new Cadillac, but if that day comes, I know where to find them, and I would look up what the experts say about that and comparable cars before buying any such thing. I am aware they exist; I drive by the plant where we make them frequently.

Not super-large, but here's today's PITA VW ad from hovering over the blue link word. Still damn Cadillac ad in EVERY picture in every forum.

I tried ad-blocker only to find unsatisfactory performance in other areas- can't recall the exact... oh yeah, suddenly attempts to bid on ANYTHING on epay resulted in "thanks for logging out!"... unless you WATCH the item FIRST- and only so many WATCH positions are available. Meh.

Popup Adds

I had this problem long ago, but since I added Add Blocked to my Fire-Fox browser, the problem is gone.
