I frequently get a false warning from a supposed Microsoft antivirus program while on this sight which I think is a trap or hack. The window comes up only when I am on this sight and I don't open it because it is probably malware. Anyone else see this?

 

I don't see this but yes, I would say its a 99% chance you should NOT click on it. It be a bad ad, your computer could already have something, or an issue with the site. If you haven't done so already, I strongly recommend the following.
1) Install and use firefox or chrome and never user internet explorer again.
2) Install the Ad-Block Plus plug in for whatever browser in step 1 you may use. (Just google "ad-block plus for browser you picked".

These will block out a ton of issues and risk of using the internet.

I got it , and it took a week to get my computer going.It wont let u click on anything else such as system restore or turn off computer. It fooled me.My daughter got one in macree form.

 

I would also download, install, and run the free version of this program. It is well-regarded and will clean all sorts of malefactors that might be residing on your computer.

IMO the best free antivirus out there is Avast. I use it for the few remaining Win machines I have left. I have used it for >6 years and never had an intrusion. FYI if you change your antivirus program (not malware) you must uninstall the old AV program. When it comes to AV protection, two is not better than one. You can grind your system to a halt running more than one at a time and there is no benefit. I cannot recommend MacAfee, Norton, or any of the other big players. They add completely unnecessary features and slow the system, where Avast is very light-weight.

I agree with Joffroi, if there is any doubt, just don't click something.

 

Is it a virus or just clever marketing? Same thing in many cases...
Unless it is coming from your own AV software, ignore it. I see so many ads appearing like "virus detections" and also some AV software pointing out possible walware links in ads. Hard to believe almost which is right.
Getting good AV software and an adblocker will help in both cases.

Funny - my mom recently got multiple phone calls from "microsoft" becuse their "satelite service" was picking up errors from her house. I told her it was certainly a hoax but she had to ask my sister also. My sis actually had to research it.
Come on, does ms really care if you get even legit errors?

If no one else is having the same problem it probably is your computer...I would download malwarebytes, Avast, and Firefox. Malwarbytes will recognize and remove anything bad...and then install avast as your antivirus program. As my internet browser I use Firefox.

I had it happen twice i did not click on it i assumed it was a virus.

 

At work I have to run IE-10 to access this forum.
The company firewall blocks FF and Chrome from seeing this Forum.
I was able to find some Add-On's for IE-10 that seem to block the advertisement and Google data mining.
I do not know if “Stop-Google” does anything.
However the “Abine” software seems to block all Adds and popups.

Other stuff:

Firefox is my primary browser at home, and it supports many add blocking tools.
