Found an Awesome Rear Bumper Idea
I ran into this car on a web search for something out. Just thought i'd share.
The idea of the exhaust coming out the bottom of the bumper seems really nice. It's obviously a project I don't have the skill or tools to do, but I just keep looking at it.

Interesting concept. I'm not sure yet whether I like the design, but I really like the idea. Thanks for sharing the link to the pictures. I love looking at those Old School machines!

I agree. I like the concept, just not sure if I'm in love with this execution of it.

That car's been discussed here before. Lots of work, but not exactly an esthetic success in my opinion. The mods are completely contrary to the lines of the car and not an improvement. Sorry, but different just for the sake of being different isn't necessarily better.

I couldn't disagree more with this statement.
Hard to improve upon 50 year old technology? I could create a list a mile long of things than can be improved upon a 1972 Cutlass 442. Pretty much everything except the timeless look of the exterior could be upgraded and improved upon with today's readily available technology.

Different strokes for different fokes I guess. I'm not a 70's fan but to me the bumper is too large and squarish for the car and doesn't follow any other lines. It looks like a made up tack on. Harvey Earl would not approve of this abortion..... Just me.... Lost in the fifties... Tedd

I was commenting on factory options such as different hoods, cut out bumper the wing/spoiler available from the factory and factory colors. I don't know what "technology" is in this car. I was only commenting on the rear "bumper" photo. I did say that it was just my opinion. An owner can do as they wish with their car.

Blaspheme! It is on very rare occasion that someone can out-due the factory design team. Most body mods are just plain bad.
Even a lot of the aftermarket wheels take away from the factory styling and ad little. I used to think the 69 cutlass/442 would look better with the W25 hood, guess what I was wrong. The hood was out of scale and the lines did not flow well. Yes it looks okay but it was not a upgrade in style.
The factory is very tough to beat when it comes to styling. Yes there were many years that they produced ugly cars but those are not the ones being modified.
Even a lot of the aftermarket wheels take away from the factory styling and ad little. I used to think the 69 cutlass/442 would look better with the W25 hood, guess what I was wrong. The hood was out of scale and the lines did not flow well. Yes it looks okay but it was not a upgrade in style.
The factory is very tough to beat when it comes to styling. Yes there were many years that they produced ugly cars but those are not the ones being modified.

At least the spoiler on the Hamilton looks better than the OEM spoiler installed on the trunk of the Cutlass Supreme, the Vista Cruiser's roof, and the trunk of the Cutlass/442 convertible that are all parked in the same area.

I like Chip he seems to be a genuine good guy. He does custom builds and that has to be something one likes, to appreciate his work. I like all forms of the car hobby even the cartoon builds that came from the early 60's.
I think true customs that are well thought out and executed ad to the hobby but to many are not well planed out and executed and detract from the looks of the car.
There are emblem and chrome trim delete's that look very good but if taken to far again can detract from the overall look of the car.

Not even sure what a Ridler is, but in my opinion, I do not like what he does to cars, especially ones that already look nice from the factory. It was different back in the late 40's and early 50's when most the designs were holdovers from before the war.
Except for a few cars, most of the cars designed in the late 50's up through the 70's and part of the 80's do not need customizing.
If anything customizers should work on early Falcons, Novas, the X-cars, and most of the mid-Eighties front wheel drives that were pretty much devoid of style.
Of course, that is my opinion.

You of course are entitled to your opinion but my opinion is the Hamilton is one ugly debauchery. The Ridler award is one the most prestigious awards given in the custom car industry. I too do not like everything he does but some of his work is absolutely amazing as verified by his peers in the industry.

I know you said not to base him on the TV show, but the one time I watched a girlfriend took her boyfriend's factory stock GTO Judge to Chip Fooze for a 'restoration'. Fooze slapped on some goofy looking oversized rims/tires, installed oversize speaker throughout the car, painted the car with stripes that made no sense, and made other odd changes. When the owner saw his car he cried and said some things they seemed to be cut out.
I am not a fan of his other customs done on the '60-'80 cars.
