Hey all,
Have a question about car documentation. I have looked though several posts about documenting a car and see references to build sheets, broadcast cards, and window stickers. All of this makes since to me, but has anyone ever seen an original Car Shipping Order? I have attached the top portion of the one that came with my car. Below the top portion it list all the options applied to the car.

Yes, I have the Car Shipping Order for my '70 W-30. It looks very much like a Window Sticker. It's also the only document I have which verifies the color of the stripes, since that doesn't appear on the Fisher Broadcast Card or cowl tag, and Lansing cars don't have Build Sheets.

I have not seen any other forums or post referring to this document, so I am wondering if it is rare to find, and is it as good as having the other documents referenced in my original post.

Yes, I feel the Car Shipping Order is a vital piece of factory documentation -- adequate for validating a W-car or Rallye, as far as I'm concerned. (Assuming it hasn't been faked, but that's a problem with any document.)

I think if you use the search tool on this message board you'll find more discussion on this topic.

I have the car shipping order for my '68 4-4-2. At one point, it was all I had. It was a carbon copy of something and I had to take it to Kinko's and turn up the contrast all the way to read what was left of the carbon markings. It showed the options that came on the car.


Then, when I started reassembling the engine, I found a piece of paper stuffed away in one of the exhaust manifolds. Lo and behold, it was the original window sticker. Once I saw it, I could tell that the shipping order was just a carbon copy of the window sticker.


I've attached scans of both. The shipping order is virtually impossible to read!

Thank you all for the feedback.
The copy I got with the car was also very hard to read. I scanned a copy into Photoshop, adjusted the contrast and came out with a nice readable copy.
