tornado 403 firing order?
Thanks! So my wires are correct but my engine is not performing above 35 mph and the secondary buttery are not opening to give full throttle. Every thing worked fine before so there seems to be a prob!em with throttle linkage!! Any suggestions?
You could have a helper depress the pedal and hold it down, then see if you can open the carb more by hand- if you cannot open it more by hand, then the gas pedal is doing what it should. Perhaps the timing has problems. What year Toro? Oh I see a 403 therefore 77-79. 1977 has crank triggered ignition which might conceivably cause such an issue.
I suggest you relate more details, like what was done [fixed?] just "before" this started.
I had it smogged yesterday but it failed for what seemed a small miss so I replaced the spark plugs and wires. Later I noticed a manifold inlet that was left uncovered and thinking it was an oversight by the tech I got a cover for it but it did not solve my problem!
There's some difference on 78 Toronado engines but I can't remember exactly what. Those cars had the genesis of CCC electronic engine controls and some things were "different".
See if wildaboutcars has a link to the 78 shop book.

Actually, Glenn, you're thinking of the MISAR crank-trigger ignition system, which is not really related to the CCC system other than possibly the software to do the ignition advance in the computer.
Thanks Joe and friends! So my assumption of the secondary butterflies not opening up may be wrong. From all the input maybe it needs a tune up? Not sure what the tech did and I can not find what the spare inlet is for on the manifold. Before I go to a shop it maybe the spark plug gap?
Thanks again for everyones help it was appreciated. But I am a bit embarrassed since the problem was simply my fuel filter. However after havingthe sending units replaced by a shop in town it did not dawn on me he did not check that before telling me I needed sending units for my fuel tanks!
So the 403 is a small block? This engine looks like a big bock not like a Pontiac 400. Also, I was trying to cross some busy traffic on Pacheco Pass and lit my tires all the way across intersection in my 10000 lb Royale! It must have been the blender!

uhh, check that again. The only Royale's were Delta 88's and none of them weighed anywhere close to that. Heaviest I can find recorded is around 4400 lbs and that's as a vert. Your suspension would have issues with you if it weighed 10K lbs.

I was trying to figure out why a Toro needed 2 gas sending units.
