Hi , i would like to remove timing cover but i don't know how to hold the crankshaft pulley to remove it ?? and i would like to know how to remove oil pan after all screws are removed ?
Thanks for your time
Guillaume
no one has already removed the damper pulleu to change the timing cover seal ?? i just need to know if i must put a speed on my automatic transmission or use a special tool to hold the flywheel or other ??
thanks
You need a flywheel holder (also called a flywheel turner) to keep the engine from spinning. This engages the teeth on the ring gear. Usually it requires two people - one to hold the flywheel and one to deal with the balancer. You can try removing the starter. Sometimes you can insert a rod or screwdriver into a hole in the flywheel and lock it up against the block.
Thanks for your help Joe but i can use the tool you are talking about because the bellhousing on my hydramatic transmission is all around the flywheel . the only one way i could use is a tool to hold the balancer pulley . is it possible to do it like that ? no problem for the balancer pulley if i take this way ?
