Hi, looking to see what the consensus on whatr trunk weather strip is the best quality fit and function. I have a leak on my 1972 cutlass on the driver side of the trunk and from what I can figure out the seal is not making a solid contact to the decklid. I have tried softseal and I think the one currently on the car is from Steele. I am not ruling out the possibility of installer failure when installing the gasket either. Thanks for your help, Dave.
Precision makes an excellent trunk weatherstrip, and it's very reasonable. I've used Metro, SoffSeal, OER latex, GM replacement latex...probably more I can't remember. This stuff is the best!!!
I used a seal from Steele Rubber Products on my 66 Cutlass. The key also is to do a very good job cleaning out the old material. Got one of their plastic tools and it worked out great. Went in nice with the proper adhesive. Clean seal groove prevents bumps that will cause the seal not to set correctly causing high spots which cause leaks. The service from Steele was great.

Thanks Wayne, I had a few moments ,a helper, and some water today. I found out exactly what is happening , the quarter was replaced long before I got the car and in the joint at the corner of the quarter to trunk seal area is a lot rougher than I thought and I must use a little more adhesive in that area to seal under the seal as the water comes in under the seal and right down the inside of the trunk jam .
I bought the metro trunk weatherstrip for my 76 olds. Let me tell ya', its a PITA trying to pull the trunk open after not opening it for several weekends.
Maybe I should have spent a more $$ and tried another manufacture.
I have metro in my trunk, it works great. I did not glue it in as water always seems to get under it some how. I fit it and glued the ends together, this way i can pull it up and clean and dry under it. I never get water in the trunk.
