372ci build in progress
New to this forum, but not to Oldsmobile's. I have been the rare guy at the track that uses small block olds to power my car. Yes, we can all agree that other brands of engines might be cheaper to buy and build, but the passion and history of the Oldsmobile needs to be kept alive and I feel its my duty to keep it going. I love to have people come up to the car and say no way thats a small block olds running like that, I'm always eager to pop the hood and show them. I get alot of man I remember back in the day I had one! my dad had one! my grandpa had one! Than it usually ends up with, it blew up! Well we are not in the 60's or 70's anymore, use some arp studs, flat top pistons, aluminum intake, roller rockers, good carb, .500+ cam, and a little time with a die grinder on the heads and you have a great motor that can and will hold up to high rpm's and deliver that stump pulling torque these motors are known for.

My Boss is a Chevy guy but he owned a 73 Cutlass with the 350 and even thought the 307 was a good motor. The Olds 350 has a much better reputation than the 455, a lot of the people who ran GM's for years give the Olds 350 respect, some even thought it was GM's best 350, I sure do. The 455 had the went like hell but blew up reputation and there is a reason with big 3" main bearings and heavy as hell parts flinging around. Your pistons and rods look too nice to go in the motor! Procomp heads look awesome as well. A 5 main Halo, what crank?

I have a good machinist, takes awhile but man they do an awesome job. I know if this was a chevy or ford engine it would have been done ages ago, this build has been a thorn in his side for a year now! I wish cutlass efi would have had the stroker kit before I started this build because I would have saved so much on this build having that option. I guess that will be my next build, always need a plan B when racing and I like to have a spare engine parts

Yes coppercutlass got her out there for some shake down passes. I have a summer camp for youth put on by our local community college in a couple of weeks so i'm saving the nitrous passes for after that, than I'll lean on that motor looking for that 9's. I still have some upgrades ie intake, injection, transbrake before i'll be there but i'll get there!
