I am remiss for not introducing myself to the group.....
I'm Troy (BDT = Big Dumb Troy).....from Maine originally but have lived in Charleston SC for the past 25 years. Thanks to the US Air Force for bringing me here! I'm retired AF....and then like an idiot, I bought a restaurant...and like a bigger idiot, opened a second one....
Anyhow, I have a 1971 Cutlass convertible. It was my wife's Uncle's car. He purchased it from the original owner in the late 70's/early 80's (not sure exactly). When he passed, we purchased it from her aunt when she wanted to sell. Uncle Paul was a Shriner so he painted the car Monarch Red (it was originally a copper color...can't think of the proper name off the top of my head). He also replaced the original 350/TH350 with a 455/TH400. Now, the pedigree of the 455, I'm not positive of (and I haven't looked at the vin on the block to be honest).....but it's an F block with C heads and a J intake. I'm not sure if he pieced this together or if he bought this motor together, but I do know he did a rebuild in the mid 80's.
Anyway, I love the car.....we've driven it from SC to Maine and back and looking forward to driving the Blue Ridge Parkway this spring, perhaps. I'm NOT particularly mechanically inclined.....but, this forum has been a great resource for me, so thanks to you guys. There are a few of you that make me feel like a lesser human being....(Joe Padavano, Allan R, Rob Young....et al) but it motivates me to get off my can and in the garage.
Also, I'm a huge smart alec....so, please take no offense to anything that may rub you the wrong way.
Cheers,
Troy

I dig that as well......I also really like the red with brown (sienna?) interior. Why that was not an available color combination from the factory is a mystery to me.
Cheers,
Troy
another gratuitous wife (TLW = The Lovely Wendi) / dog / car shot...

Ummm...did you say restaurant? I'm hungry.
Also nice car. And welcome from NC. Not from "down south" either. From PA. Also with an aerospace/aviation background. But probably not as much as you. Definitely not as much as Joe P. He's my go to guy if I ever decide to launch my own rocket like that flat earth maniac just did. HA!

I love Raleigh!
I actually spent my last 3 years at Ft. Bragg/Pope AFB...still have a rental house in Fayetteville (not a great investment, I assure you).
I spent my time loading planes...logistician by trade.
If you get down my way, come on by.....I’m generally good for a cool beverage!
Cheers,
Troy
