Nice looking car and a convertible to boot!
The oil pan is correct for 62 Starfire and very hard to find, if it isn't leaking then paint it and put it back on. It's purpose is to hold an extra quart in the pan and allow it to cool down.
What's up with the gauges in the console?
Steve

Send the picture to stevewestlake@jaswest.com and I'll check it out. I might have a good replacement top for your console here.

Wrong and wrong. That oil pan is the same for every '62 Oldsmobile 394. There's one on EBay now. Extra quart? Really? Umm no. They take the standard 5 quarts with an oil change

I didn't say starfire only I said 62 394 only, so what is your take on the side tank on these pans, I have a 62 engine apart here I'm rebuilding and the pan is the same size as a 63 only it has the canister on the side.
Enlighten me on this.

What are your thoughts on this canister on the side of the pan? I've been told by many that it's for extra oil and as far as I can tell that makes sense to me. Does the 60 and 59 394 also have this canister?

Everything I've read says its just for extra capacity. My engine is the lo-po 250 hp 394 and it has this same oil pan.

My '57 has a similar projection. It's a conversation starter at the lube shop!
