My name is Steve and I live in the South Bend Indiana area. I owned three ****** coupes from 1967 to 1987. Left the "car" world for 20 years and then got back in with a 1967 Cutlass Holiday Coupe in 2008. Currently I have two 1964 Cutlass convertibles (one a parts car), the 1967 Cutlass and a 1967 numbers matching CS 442. My parents started buying Oldsmobile's in 1962 so I guess it ts in my blood. It looks like there are a lot of knowledgeable people on this forum and I hope to learn as much as I can and possibly return the favor from time to time.

Welcome Steve.
You can't beat a Hoosier!!! I'm from LaPorte. LOL. Moved away in 1978 after high school but I still come back to visit friends and family.
We used to go to that race track in SB on Hwy 2? 20? Great times. Loved the demo derbys.
Great looking car! I've always loved a vinyl top on a car.
Do you do cruise night in LaPorte?
Enjoy the site.

I have only had the 442 for three years. The previous owner is also from Indiana and had it for 26 years. It had been repainted the original Spanish Red some time prior to 1989. It is definitely a 50-50 car as I only buy drivers. Car was purchased new in Midland Texas by a man from Odessa. At some point it passed through Oklahoma and made it to Indiana in 1989. I am currently in contact with OK DMV to try and get some ownership history on the car. It is somewhat of an odd combination of options as it has standard steering and brakes but AM-FM and air conditioning, M21 close ratio 4 speed and 3.55 open rear end with bucket seats and no console. You would think that someone ordered the car this way but it was built in the first week in July but was not sold until the first week in September. Who knows. Heads have been off at least once as they are currently reversed. Everything matches the Protecto Plate ! The air cleaner appears to be a reproduction and the Quadrajet has been replaced with Holley. When the guy who does my appraisals saw it, the first thing he said was "this has been sitting a long time" which pretty much coincides with what the previous owner told me. He wanted to pass it on to his son who was a car guy too but he did not want anything to do with it and I believe he was
finally resolved to the fact that as he put it "it needs to get on down the road"
