1971 Cutlass Supreme after market rim question

I'm restoring my 1971 Cutlass Supreme. Keeping same color except for black top. I have 14 x 7 ss111 on them right now which I will restore and keep but also wanna put these on. MB Old school rims Chrome. Was wondering what the general consensus. Should I go with 15 x 7 or 15 x 8. More importantly what kinda tires.

Any opinions on the matter. I have tough skin.

Thank u

My viewpoint is that the only opinion on what goes on a car that matters, is the one who strokes the check. If those wheels make you happy, I'd run with them. Tire size depends on what look your after. Are you wanting wider in the rear and narrower up front, or same all around?

I have 15-7s w 255-60-15 all four corners on my 72 slight rub at full lock on a bump, so that's about the widest tires for the front, I've read some run a 275 in back

Right I guess it's personal taste. I do want the same all around.

good to know. Thanks. Yeah I don't wanna go too wide. I guess 15-7 are the way to go. Maybe I should go slightly narrower than 255. But I guess a little rub never hurt anyone 😝

255's on the stock wheels. If you get a wheel with any different of an offset then tire clearances go out the window and you will need to test fit in the front to see what hits.

I have 245-60s all around and I got a slight bit of rubbing on the drivers side when I was backing out the driveway with the tires at full right turn and dropped off the curb. I don't think I could get away with 255s up front. My 70 Supreme accidentally got one 255-60 installed up front (thanks to the tire shop) and it rubbed on every turn. Prolly depends upon the suspension and how much clearance there is (ride height).
