Who's going racing?

Tired of the same thread used as a message board. No disrespect to Dr.Dan. I am off to the track this coming weekend. Is anyone else racing?

I've had the 67 out 3 times and the G body Bonneville out twice, including a $300 bracket win. Hopefully, gonna get back next Sat up in Beaver Springs, PA. I made a bunch of rear suspension changes, and really want a wheelie this year. I can sneak a sheet of paper under the driver side now, but it's still a 2.0 60

I went through all the control arm bolts; put new metal lock nuts with red LocTite just tight enough to turn them with a wrench. I lowered the upper bars into the lower holes on the frame after reading an interview with Jerry Bickel online. Prop Joe is letting me try some cheap CE drag shocks.
here's some more details

It’s been a so-so year here. I think I’ve only gone out about 10 times?
I started visiting a SGMP as I am growing really tired of Gainesville.
I went there 4 times this year and wound up with a win twice and runner up once. $700 for the last RU 3 weeks ago.

Managed to also race in Orlando and make the World Footbrake Challenge up in Bristol, Tenn.
THAT was an amazing time. Some incredible racers. .000 vs. .000 reaction times! Very humbling.
Here’s some highlights

Thanks for the compliments. Looks more dramatic as a still frame. Working the kinks out. Think I need a 3 speed, just don't want to spend the money. 60 over D block (437) pump gas, nothing special.

Time trials this past Saturday.
Found out I have a badly fouled spark plug on #6 intake.
Not sure if it’s a bad seal or messed up valve...
Still wound up with a 6.88 at the end of the night.

Nice running there Rallye469, especially with an issue going on.....

I hope it is something easy and quick to fix.

Also, what rear suspension are you running on your car? Does it always have that level of twist on launch or is it more flat when it leaves?

What trans are you running now, and why do you want to change?

When I was first putting the car together my budget was a tight. My buddy had a glide and converter at a price I could not pass up. It's not optimal for the low HP and weight (3500#).

Absolutely agree; consistent, yes, for sure, but, like you said, not optimal for most of us with lower power and heavy cars.

Where are you located?

You should have an even better launch and 60ft with the stouter 1st gear of a 350 or 400 trans...

which trans models are you considering?

That's what I need is a powerglide.

I'm currently running out of Island Dragway.
Your correct about the 60ft. I foot brake the car so normally I launch from 1500 rpm for consistency reasons. This weekend after testing different carburators for ***** and giggles (better pictures too) I used the trans brake. I dropped my 60 .04 and almost a full 10th in ET. If I change I'll go 350, it's a direct swap.

Battenrunner, no...that twist was cured by a thick TRZ anti-roll bar. It’s just a QP 9” with morose springs and strange DA’s...nothing too trick.

Nice, I hope that all works well for You on the changes.

No track time for us yet. Between my work and my Dad breaking his vertebrae in his back, and a few more challenges thrown in, it has been slow.

We do plan on testing it for fuel leaks and fuel pressure this weekend, as well as trying to get the new G Force Crossmember installed under the transmission. The stock crossmember just won't work with our headers amd collector extensions, even modified and cut back. We needed to raise the exhaust up closer to the floor panels and one header was offset more than the stock crossmember would allow without a bunch of fab time and effort that we just don't have left anymore.

Once we have the crossmember in, we can start fitting the exhaust and install the O2 sensors and the rest of the exhaust system. I hope that will be in the next few weeks and we can see if we will have a engine running under fuel injection then.

Thats what I have in my ‘70. Works well for a street/drag machine.
But the GV will slow you down a tenth. I’m actually going to remove the unit from my ‘70 and put it in the ‘65.
Once I have the 65 going I can make the 70 a bit more dedicated.

That is good to know. It looks like we have similar set ups, my 72 is turning more drag car since i picked up the 64 for cruising and road trips. What are you going to do to the 70 to make it more drag orientated? I have been fallowing your 65 build, it is a clean car to start with.
