324(was 303) with #18 heads question
I accidently bought a full race 303 from the auction of a local speed shop. I was bidding on a sorta stock 303 that was in the lot with adjustable rockers.
I ignored this motor until i saw the girdle on the bottom end while loading it. I assumed until then it was a warm 371 or 394 looking at the heads. When i ran the numbers it has a 303 block with .030 over 324 pistons. It all looks like it was ran and since this was from the sale of Jim Greens speed shop(SOHC ford funny car guy) i doubt it is junk. Also these heads were ported all to heck, this should rev like crazy
Oh and to gloat i got not only the mostly stock 303, but this one too for a total of $250 and a hildebrant starter changover for $25 too
Anyway so my question, I cant find CC's for the heads to figure a ballpark compression ratio. I realize to get real numbers i just need to get out my burette, but do you guys have any idea? I gotta figure out if i need to start looking for huffer stuff or a log manifold for it.

Here is a good read on the early first generation hot rod engines, take a look you might find your answers here...Tedd

I need to look at stuff a little closer to see If a blower intake can even be made to fit since the 394's have different length runners if i remember right and the only over the counter intakes that can fit are log's.
I know some intakes can be modified to fit, i have heard of guys chopping up J2 intakes for early motors. Other options are weld up style intakes.
