Stock intake capability
Do you think this cam would work with a 1972 olds 455 stock intake big valve heads 2.07/1.68 ported bowls and filled and shaped midlle exhaust ports. With W&Z manifolds 2.5 exhaust back. Engine 10.1 roller adj rockers, 750 quadrajet im thinking 109 ls duration @ .050 235/243 lift 501/480 wirh a 2600 convertor. nice rough idle with increased mid. Hp&trq. Thinking he bbo has has plenty of low end power and not looking to twist it over 5600-5800ish. I want to keep the stock intake to work with the factory oai hood set up and for original. PB,A/C car

correct specs for the W31 cam, there is only one.

My goals, just an everyday cruiser, with a choppy idle amd pulls good from 1500-5500 5800. Ish.
I would keep your .050” numbers 230 max on intake and 235 ex. go tight with your LSA like 110 or 108 and put the 108 in at +2 , the 110 at +4
pick one with the most lift there is.

This ones just a little bit slower, but it's 12 tears older. I'm pretty sure Daves Bares car uses NHRA legal Edelbrock heads.

That's impressive 11.50's with iron heads. I'm sure there has been advancements in stoker engine development in the last 12 years as well.

I run Bullet's version of the W31 "308" cam in my 455... 233/233@0.050, but on a 112LSA instead of 113. Makes plenty of torque with iron heads, exhaust manifolds and 2.5" exhaust... I think it was 530 lb-ft. Didn't make much for power up top, 440-445 but falls off hard over 5200... I think it is the lifters bleeding off though. I wouldn't classify the idle as "nasty", just a mild chop. For performance if I was doing it again, I would widen the LSA.
Olds didn't design their W series cams for use with exhaust manifolds, they were intended for racers that were going to switch to headers right away.

Has Anyone have suggestions to make a stock cast intake gain some top end power range? I heard/seen on here cutting out the plenum but didn't see any results on it or if it was pure track.
Is it even worth doing mods to it for street. And when I say street, i like to throw the hammer down especially when a good tune comes on! So maybe street/strip application lol

Page wouldn't load. The '72 Cutlass in my avatar, formerly owned by Doug Patrick, and built at my shop in 2001, ran 11.42 @ 114+ mph. This was an NHRA legal 350 Olds engine, 9:1 compression, 0.400" lift hydraulic flat tappet cam, cast iron factory intake, quadrajet combination.
