Rear Tire size on a 68 442

Need to know if a 15X9X30 drag slick will fit under a 68 442. Running Chevy Rallye stock steel wheel w/standard offset and stock rear.

My measurements show that they will just fit but before I pop for a pair I want to make sure of the fit. Maybe someone has done this before. Running pure stock class. Thanks

I ran 29.5 X 9 X 15 M/T Slicks on my 70 with stock width rear and 8" rims. No clearance issues.

I had a 28x10.5 MT slick on a my '69 with a 15x8 wheel w/4.5" backspace. The 68-69 cars don't have as much room as the 70 and up cars. The width will be fine. Where you may run into trouble is the height. It will be pretty close on the front edge of the wheel well.

As Chad mentioned the height is what I would be worried about especially as they grow during a run.

I ran this Hoosier on my car with 8" weld pro stars 4.5 back space with no problems
18212 9.0/30.0R-15 Radial*** C 9.0" 29.9" 94.0" 8-10" 8" 11.3" 22 C06
They make a smaller circumference at 92.5" also these are radial slicks between 17psi and 22 psi

Thanks guys, I have a friend who races and he has a set of Goodyears mounted on chevy rallye wheels. He will loan them to me for a trial fit. I will post what I find out.

Wheel offset will be critical. Section width will be about .8" more with a 10" wheel than with 8" in case sidewall clearance to the frame, etc. is an issue.

OK....here is what I found out. A 30X9X15 will not fit due to rocker panel interference when you try to put weight on the axle. Sooo...I went with a 28X9X15 and I have no clearance issues. This is with a Mickey Thompson drag slick mounted on a stock offset wheel. Thanks for your input!
