Interesting topic thanks for posting.
The claim has always been, a high volume oil pump steals power over a regular volume pump. It would be interesting to see if there is much difference. If 3 hp is true for a high volume pump, even if the regular pump draws 1 hp, what is 2 hp? Nothing you would ever notice and extra volume in a 7000 rpm motor is not a bad thing for sure. Good topic.

I can see where the oil pump could cause excessive drag, especially if you run 20w-50 tractor oil. I've seen a lot with running aluminum rods where cold start is 75, then 15 hot idle and 40 at 6000 rpm. I run Brad Penn 10w-40 because the pressure is consistent; Lucas hot rod is a solid 2nd choice. Everything else I've tried has wild pressure fluctuations. I'm hesitant to put a stock volume pump in on this combination. I'll just have to live with bronze gears as a maintenance item.
