Low 12's what does it take

Car is 3900lbs with driver.Has a 750 holley,538\538 lift.236/244 duration.Full Roller.Performer intake,divider milled.400turbo,2200 stall,373 posi.Compression 10.3....will this be enough to see 110mph trap speeds,and 12.3 ets. Assuming my 60ft times are not 2 seconds or worst.Sorry forgot Eddy heads 5 angle posi flow.Also 455 .060 over.

Let's put it this way: if you do see 110 mph and 12.3 ETs with that combination, it'll be because you're a helluva tuner.

At a minimum, that cam will need a higher stall converter.

And regardless of trap speed, you'll need to 60-foot a lot faster than 2.0 to reach 12.3 ET. So plan on sticky tires and a well-tuned chassis.

If tuned properly it should be no problem... Wouldn't surprise me if it was faster.

trap speed = 235* cube root of hp/race weight (but it understates hp for traps > 100mph, and this works for 1320 feet, Id have to redo it for 1000ft - consult your local track distance)

You should have no problems at all with 12.3/110 mph... provided it somewhat hooks up... if you aren't running a drag setup and slicks/drag radials, the tight converter will help keep you from hazing the tires.

Wrong the tires spin on the rim on the hit been there done that. That is lost ET. The vht is to sticky at the track. That is why you need screws for Mickey slicks OR use Hoosier slicks/ Drag radials.

So the people I know running 10s, 11s, and low 12s on polyglas tires without screws are spinning in the rims and none of them know it? What about all these new factory cars that run low 12s from the showroom on street rims? Are they all spinning their rims in the tires too? Hellcats, Shelbys, Corvettes, Camaros...

About using screws. I've alway seen a lot of older cars running 12's or better do that.

I might be of the opinion that a car that is only running 12's or even 11's for that matter is not making enough power to put the tire/wheel bead at risk. not that I am denigrating 12's but in reality its not that fast and can be hit with relatively mild power combos (unless the vehicle in question is a 3 ton dually crew cab 4x4......)

I think it really boils down to the PSI in the slicks. Some people run upper teens to twenty plus PSI and much less likely to slip on the rim. Some guys drop it down really low and I can see those as the ones that need screws.

Read my first post please about mickeys I didn't say hoosiers or drag radials. I said mickey slicks. This would be the soft compound.I also said my regular street tires not racing tires were the ones that slipped.

I have no doubt your car was spinning the tires in the rims,
But none of my, nor my pals cars do,

Did you notice Gearmans comment about low tire pressure on street tires. Have you any video? Some guy let air out to gain a better track bite on launch. This is when you can have a problem. I found it is better to have more air in my street tires or screws in my mickeys. Now Hoosiers are stiff walled screws are not needed.

Guys I do not hit the 1320 much anymore, but after you figure out whats going on and the car will launch without smoldering the tires-something else may give with that hard traction-these 455's can bust loose the driver side motor mount, U joints could fail etc, been there done that. Just make sure the rest of the car will handle the force (torque) these bad boys put out. Just a few other points over and out.

My Mickey Thompsons would slip on my 12.40 car. Had to screw them.
Every combo is different. What slips on one may not on another, lots of variables here. Testing and tuning is your friend.
