I am not on the hook for the rods and pistons, the owner admitted it was his issue. I have offered the 330 crank I have if it can be offset ground enough for those rods and pistons to work. Does anyone know if you can offset grind a 330 crank to a 3 5/8” stroke? Now that his machinist is gone I don’t know he is going to get this done anyway. This really sucks because these two gentlemen are very well respected in our community. They did very well racing Oldsmobile’s in the late 80’s early 90’s. I just don’t know to do at this point, the project has already been delayed too long.

I don't believe the 330 crank would make it that far without welding, regardless of the journal diameter. (even 1.88")

The short block is together. I’m working on a pair of big block heads now to top it off.

Where did it end up for bore and stroke?

It’s a 3.38 stroke with a 4.08 bore. It has custom Racetech pistons and Eagle 6.2 inch rods.

Uhh you put good rods in it but kept the same stock main bolts? Why?
And you did check the clearance between the rod and pin boss in the piston correct? Those rods are offset, std Old rods are centered. Just an fyi.

I have to order main studs, thought I had some in the cabinet but they were head studs. The pins are floating with circlips, they are chamfered on one side.

Ok but I hope you don’t think you can just replace the stock bolts with studs. It will change your dimensions.
And whether they’re floating or not doesn’t matter. You need to make sure you have enough clearance between the small end of the rod and the pin boss.

Yep, had my block aligned honed with the ARP studs in place. It was out and definitely needed the hone. My short block only needed 10 ft-lbs to turn over.
