How to Shave 3 Tenths off Your ET

BUY A MILAN CARB!
Last night I went to the track to do some test and tune hits. I'm still learning how to drive this beast, but it seemed to be stuck running 11.50's. I did pull off an 11.31 for PB previously. I haven't done too much tuning. Played with tire pressure, shift points, and timing. I never messed with the jets in my antique Holley Dominator 1050. I was feeling a bit of a stumble on the big end. It felt like fuel starvation. I found out my Autometer electrical FP gage inside was reading 3 PSI higher than actual pressure at the regulator. I adjusted it and it did get better, but not 100%.
I made two passes to establish a base line with the old 1050. It went 11.37, 11.57 @ 117/ 115 MPH. then Milan shows up with a 1070 CFM quick fuel that he worked over. I have no clue what kind of vodoo magic he worked inside this thing. I bolted it on, float level was perfect. set the idle, checked for leaks, and made a pass. My line lock didn't hold, and I fudged the launch. Screwed up the whole pass, but it went 119.82 MPH. I made three more passes after that - cut a .005 light, 1.477 60 ft, 11.14 ET @ 120.51 MPH, 1.471 60ft, 11.10 ET @ 118 MPH, and the best for last 1.499 60 ft, 11.07 @ 120 MPH. I was told the front end was coming up about six inches, and carried out nicely. I could not tell from my seat the car lifted the front end. This was a pretty big jump in one night. So close to bustin' into the tens now. With better air the car would have been there. For me this is pretty amazing for a street motor 9.5:1 compression, pump gas, heavy TRW slugs, small cam, and a rookie driver. We all had a blast. Big thanks to Milan and my whole crew that helped out.

My car really seems to like a lot of fuel on the big end. I've talked with a few people about this combo, including Dr. Dan. Most everybody thinks this intake, and carb, is too much for my engine. I may try a Portosonic with an 850 at some point, but I just put this intake back on after an oil leak in the back. Over the winter I plan to change the converter to a 9" 4500 stall, I'm at 3400 right now, I want to swap out the cam, and revisit the heads. This was the first set I ever ported over twenty years ago. I've learned a bit since then. All in all I am very happy with how things are going with my car. I knew it wasn't going to be in the tens first time out. We will get there.
Maybe this could be a good thread for everyone to share what they did to their car to show the biggest gains.
