To Shave or not to Shave..... That is the question.

Is it a sin to remove all Oldsmobile Script, letering and badges?

Maybe frowned upon by some but not a sin. Some like the "shaved" look and some don't. I guess in my opinion it would depend on the overall "look" of the car, but it's your car so do it the way you want it. You are the only one that matters when it comes to opinions on your car. If you decide to "shave" it, just keep it all together in case you want to put it back on one day. Hopefully this helps.

Depends - it it's a really nice original car, and if you've got to dent the metal, or weld it, to fill the holes, then, yes. If it's a beater, or it's just been around the block a whole bunch of times, or you can do it without damaging the metal, then, no.

I used to take the badges off of all my cars, but I'm thinking twice about it with the one I'm about to paint. I may leave 'em just to save me the effort of filling the holes.

oh... badges, lettering and such. Nope, I never do that with an old car (pull them off that is). New car perhaps.

IMO, trunk lettering on the 71-72 Supreme (O-L-D-S-M-O-B-I-L-E) and Cutlass scripts on the side are very cool. I look forward to putting them back on once the body is done.

But then how would you know what kind of car it was?

True Olds fans would know... I also like the idea of curious people asking what it is.

my 72 Supreme only has the "Cutlass" scripts on the front fenders. all the rest have been shaved. I like it.

old cars, no.....new cars, sometimes. i like badges on old cars cuz people should proudly be advertising what type of car they are driving that is 30, 40, 50 years old. newer cars look good with the emblems shaved, or customized. but i would leave the original emblems, they help complete the car. it just doesn't look right to see and antique car with no emblems. the only exception would be if it's a full blown custom hot rod, and you go the full distance with shaving door handles, emblems, etc.
