cracked oil pan

Got a crack in my pan at the front. Anyone else have issues with cracked pans. Kind of a strange place for crack but must be some stress. Anyone else get a crack in this location ?
I plan on drilling a hole in the ends of the crack and welding it up.
Thanks
Glen

Never heard of that before. Is it an OE pan or aftermarket? I bought a Moroso deep sump oil pan from Summit and it leaked fluid out of the drain plug when sitting on the engine stand. I swapped it for a Milodon pan that worked great.

Is it a crack or a gouge ? Hard to tell from the picture.

@w30442
Can you explain how you welded it on the car, and special precautions you might recommend?
Thx.

Is it mounted to a flexy-block 455? I've heard of them cracking on the bottom (Milodon).

Oletrux - The engine is removed from the car. Drilled holes in the pan where the cracks ended to keep them from growing further and welded it up with a Mig/ Tig would of done a nicer job but I used what I had. Tested it with water over a few days and no leaks.. I also removed the pan to do this of course.

It tore the seam along the backside of the pan. Thanks guys, but I'm going to replace it. We travel long distances in this car and really need to maintain the highest reliability that I can.
Thanks again.
