Brainbeau 66’ questions

I saw a video of the restored car. It sounds amazing. Does anyone no what they did to the engine? Who built it?

The thing that probably gives you the sound you like is the Tubular Automotive headers the car has on it. Looks like a bowl of spaghetti underneath the car.

I suspect the engines were built "in house" with machining done by an outside shop. Meticulous assembly and adherance to NHRA registered (Oldsmobile) blueprint specs. In 1968 Berejik had a "Performance Center" near the dealership.

Here is the headers on a 1968. They were JR headers fabricated in Michigan.

Nope, those are something different. Yours cross over from side to side. The ones on the Berejik car circle around and join the collector on the same side. They also are 2" tubes. I have a set on my '70 W-30 that came off my '68 H/O (W-45). Next spring I'll get my W-30 out and take some good pics.

So, the Tubulars are equal length? The crossover pipes are a 180⁰ design that is supposed to help with scavenging. I tried making a set, once, never finished.

they’re not equal length. the rear two back pipes on each side are very short compared to the others, which are also not equal.

The 66 car has the 180 style originally which were 1 3/4” , the 67 car didn’t, it had the bigger 1 7/8” or 2” where the two front cylinders on each side wrapped around the front of the cross member then straight into the collector on the same side . I have pics of both cars from years ago

Sounds like open headers to me. Put 3 sets next to each other, uncorked, on the same engine, and I dare you to tell me which is which.
You're hearing the cam and compression.
