324 oil canister

Desperately needing an oil canister cover/bolt for a 324. Previous owner rounded the bolt off and I doubt I can reuse it.

I think I have one, but have you tried to match it with a new bolt yet? If you can determine the threads per inch, the size and length of the bolt you might be able to purchase a new one. If you strike out let me know and I'll see if I can come up with it. John

Not sure that bolt comes out. It stayed inside the filter cover when I finally got it off the motor.

If you get stuck and can't find one you can get a adapter that eliminates the canister and makes it so you can except a spin on oil filter. You can get them from Ross Racing Engines or Fusick....Tedd

I remember a thread where there were differing opinions about installing the spin on filter. I have one on my 54 and I would not think about using anything else. I use the big WIX spin on filter. The old cannister is a pain.

I don't want the adapter method. I may be pulling this motor out for a small block Olds this winter. I just want to drive it this summer. If anyone has one let me know

I still run the original and may switch it out someday. It would be nice to just pop a new filter on and be done with it.I only stayed with the original to avoid a points loss at the more stringent shows, don't play that game anymore so why not enjoy a pleasant oil change?

I've got this on a parts car, it would be Friday or Saturday before I'll be able to pull and package it up but if you don't find one before then this is available. John
