Hello, I am looking for the arm that goes from the wiper motor to the wiper linkage, the one that has the ballstud on it. I managed to lose mine. My car is a 1972 Cutlass without the hidden wipers, with the two speed motor, if that helps any. I have an arm but it is too short, so it must be for the hidden wipers. Will pay cash and for shipping if nobody in Southern Oregon has one. If you may have what I'm looking for shoot me a PM. Thanks!

I've seen a lot of 1970-72 Cutlass/442's over the years but Ben's is the first one I've encountered without the hidden wipers. The obvious things are the wiper arms seen above the hood lip, a narrow stainless strip across the bottom of the glass (maybe one inch wide Ben?), and his wiper motor is shaped like a brick instead of round. The best I could offer is to swap over the whole assembly for a hide-away wiper setup, but Ben just bought a new wiper motor and we don't know if they will interchange.

Greg, does your parts car have the non-hidden wipers?

Ben, you may need to post pictures for others to compare what they have with yours. Also, it may help if you'd describe here what yours did with the hide away wiper arm between the motor and wiper arm linkage assembly.

John; here is the picture of the one I have; when I run the wipers, they travel past the windshield by several inches, and when they come to rest they sit about half way up the windshield.

I have a couple of the non hidden wiper stainless piece across the bottom of the windshield if anyone needs one, also have the wiper arms, as they are different too.

Also, I "think" the round type & brick type wiper motor are just what different plants around the country used?

 

UPDATE; I thought somebody I knew had the part I was looking for awhile back, but it turns out he lost it in his parts bin someplace. Does anybody who posted here still have the part I'm looking for? Thank you!

It sounds to me as if you need to adjust either the position of your wiper arms on the shaft or the linkage under the cowl screen. There are two 3/8" nuts that secure a clam shell type of coupler where the wiper transmission (linkage) attaches to the wiper motor drive arm ball. With the wipers in the "park" position, loosen the two nuts and you can then lower your wiper arms to where they should be, then tighten the nuts and check for travel to the edge of the windshield. That may solve your problem. Bob.
