68 Cutlass S choke heater needed

My wife and I just purchased our first project car. She bought it, I get the project part. ha ha Anyway I need what I believe might be called a choke heater. It goes into the intake manifold and has two lines (that were attached to it) coming out of it. One goes to the to the choke thermostat, the other to the pull off. I have spent hours hunting the net for a description of it. Anyway it is a 350 with a 2bbl carb and is all original parts. Does anyone have this part, or any suggestions for a newbie to the restoration business? Your help is greatly appreciated.

You are talking about the heat pipe. Those two lines are actually one long tube. One end originates at a port on the carb base(not sure where), the other goes into the choke coil housing. It draws air through the tube and it heats as it travels through the heat crossover under the carb, which in turn heats the choke coil and opens the choke. It is a pain to insert and remove! Good luck with your new car and post some pictures and keep us updated.

Thanks Oldsguy I appreciate the help. However I still am not able to find one out there in WWW.com land. Any guidance as to where I may find one would be helpful. Also, do some people convert to electric choke? I would like to keep the car original is possible, but I don't want to spend weeks looking for this. My poor wife would like to drive it a bit before the snow flies, and this is preventing it from running properly. Thanks again

This might be the part you are referring to.

That's exactly what I need, except that I need both tubes also. Any ideas where I can get this item? Thanks Mike
