Wtb - 1957 thru 1964 371/394 a/c rear bracket to manifold sleeve nut

Wtb - 1957 thru 1964 371/394 a/c rear bracket to manifold sleeve nut. This mounting nut is for the stud in the head. It is located very close to the carburetor on the passenger side of the engine.

A picture of the creature would be a great help and parts book picture is very limited.

Measurement would be very useful if i have have one machined.

Thanks.

Ron

Thanks for picture from manual. I forgot to include info that i have parts manual.

The manual picture does not do justice for this part. I would like a picture even if nut is not for sale. The wrench size of the nut, the lenght of the sleeve, if the nut is hollow, how much thread extends above nut if hollow.

A picture of the nut installed would answer some of these questions. Should be about the same for picture purpose for any olds 1957 thru 1964 371/394 engines.

Thanks Ron

Still looking for picture, dimensions, or to buy the a/c compressor mounting sleeve nut. Used on 1957 to 1964 371/394 engines with factory air.

Thanks. Ron

Here is a picture of this nut .

and

I believe one could be made on a lathe from a bolt of the proper size . OLDster Ralph , would be the guy to talk to .
The inside threads were the same size as all the rest of the manifold nuts . ( 3/8-24 I THINK ? )

The threads look like fine threads (UNF). If they are 3/8", they would be 3/8-24. The bracket hole size would help determine what bolt could be used. I am guessing a Grade 5, 1/2" or 9/16" bolt would have enough wall thickness. Let me know if you want me to make one.

OK , I pulled the " sleeve nut " off the engine today to measure it .
The hex is 13/16 .

The shank diameter is .555 in .

The length from the bolt head to the beginning of the taper is .237 in .

From the bolt head to the end of the shank is .394 in .

The hole in the middle is fully threaded .

The center hole is threaded with 3/8 - 24 fine thread .

This is the bolt you will need to make this " nut " ..

Hope this helps .

I made a sketch (blueprint). I have things going on right now, maybe next week I can find bolts. I'll make 1/2 dozen or so, might be someone else need them.

Thank you thank you for the details.

I had some 5/8 inch grade 8 bolts drilled and the threads turned down slightly to pass through the bracket mounting "ear". However the parts book said the stud was 1/4 inch twenty thread so that is major problems with what i had machined. I thought stud size was rather small for the task at hand. I was not sure of the length so i used 2 inch long bolts to have overkill on the length. I had recently seen an 63 starfire with a/c and got a picture of the nut on the engine much like your picture. I did not know the nut wrench size or the length of the sleeve under the nut. I was also surprised to see that the sleeve was tapered on the end of the sleeve.

I would take twenty nuts to help make it worth while to make some.

Again - many many thanks for pictures and details.
