Anyone know what issues arise when putting a 394 into a 57/58 olds?
I know it has a taller deck height, so the engine is slightly wider.
Already there are clearance issues with the steering box to the exhaust manifold so this would probably get worse. Maybe installing the saginaw 605 would help?

A friend has that set-up and his right exhaust manifold interferes with the frame to a slight amount...

 

Heres a pic of mine with the original 57/58 371 rocket, there is stuff all room to play around with, and goodluck trying to fit a decent set of headers...

Is the early 57/58 371ci block made from the same casting as the later 371/394 block, just with smaller deck height?
For example, if I had a 394, would I be able to deck it to be same dimensions as the early 371?
