Wanted: rear axle bearing retainer plate.
Wanted: rear axle bearing retainer plate. It looks like a large
washer, and goes in the axle housing behind the inner bearing race.
Needed for my 1970 Cutlass S W-31. Interested in either a new
part or good used.

It sounds to me like you can't get the axle bearings to seat to each other.Do you have it bolted in,and there is play in it?Did you use the 712146 axle seal,or the 2146 axle seal? You should not need any additional shims or pieces,but if you do have the narrower seal on there,then you might encounter the problem with the endplay,thus needing to make the tube journal a little shallower.
