Wanted: Correct looking new fan clutch for 1970 455
I’m looking for a new fan clutch for my 1970 Cutlass with 455. All things being equal I would prefer if it looks the same as the original, but if there is a big difference in price or quality I would be okay if it was visually different. I see a lot online with pictures that look like the original, but the adds say it’s a stock photo and the actual item may look different. Is there a reasonably priced unit that looks like the original? Any manufacturer part numbers for original appearing clutches as well as part numbers for ones that will fit and function but are visually different would be appreciated.
I already have a factory Olds piece. Do you know if the new Hayden clutches look the same as OEM? What part number would be correct for my application? Thanks.
Summit racing sells a Hayden part which looks similar. Not concours but similar.
Awesome, thats what I’m looking for. Do you know which part number would be good for my application? It’s a 455 with AC, with a six blade fan and a shroud. Summit shows Hayden 2705.
I ordered the Hayden 2705 fan clutch. It does look very similar to the factory unit but it is different. It looks like the Hayden piece is about 1/8” longer, the flange on the back has slots instead of holes and the ridges on the front and rear are shaped differently. For $25 it does look close enough for me as my car is a tribute anyways.
I have used them in the past on drivers and they work just fine and have that "similar" look. I have seen OLDS parts vendors sell these as correct reproductions at 2 to 3xs the price of Summit.
