Correct Thermal Clutch Fan

It's a 71 442 with a rebuilt 455, new 4 core rad, shroud with a 18" flex fan at the moment. It's runs around 180 to 190 at cruise speeds but once I slow down and get caught in any traffic it climbs fast and will boil over. If I get it back up to cruise speeds it goes back down really quick.

Was going to add an electric pusher that I could turn on as needed but after much research on here I think I will give the thermal clutch fan a try.

My question is which one? I saw on here that the Hayden HD 2747 worked great on a 1968 but they tell me it will not fit on my 455??

Can I get some help on which brand and number, and which fan will work best. I was thinking 18" or 19" and I here I need at least a 2" pitch.

Thanks for your help (as always)

Ok still looking.

Originally I was talking with Summit and they were saying that the 2747 Hayden would not fit?

Been on Auto Zone and they list for my car
-Torqflo fan clutch 922747
-Torqflo 19" fan 983619

These must be Hayden products as the last 4 digits for both are the same as Haydens numbers?

Before I call does anyone have any experience with these?

Thanks,

You can use the following on the factory fan depending on your cooling needs:

Standard Duty:
Hayden 2705 Thermal Clutch

Heavy Duty:
Hayden 2747 Thermal Clutch

Severe Duty:
Hayden 2797 Thermal Clutch

I'm in Texas where its over 100 regularly I use the 2797 on a 70 455 with a 4 core radiator and factory shroud the hottest it gets is 190 in traffic. It normally runs between 170-185 depending how I'm driving it. I also have the 2747 and been meaning to try it but havent got around to it.

Roger, I don't know if your concerned about the fan blades looking like what came originally. But if so I'm sure someone here would have a good used 6 blade fan if you created a parts wanted thread.

John thanks. I'm more concerned with the best fan to move the most air.
