Hey guys,

Finally installing the 8 track player that came with the car, and it so happens one of the four ***** is incorrect. I'm calling it a secondary tone **** - part # 400538 per the '70 Assembly Manual.

It should have a slightly larger hole and notch for the tone stem control.

Any spares out there for sale or trade? I have an extra **** for the balance control side.

I believe both vendors get their parts from the same supplier.

 

These repro ***** are for the right side (balance), not the left (tone). The Tone **** has a notch. That's probably why there are different part numbers.

Just a thought. One of the guys on this site restores 8 tracks and likely knows where to get them or has a few. Check with Randy, he's done work for me before and I'm a happy camper. I honestly don't know if he has the part, but give him a PM W70442

 

Here's a good shot of the two ***** from the backside. The one on the right is the one I'm still looking for. In addition to being wider, I believe it has a small notch.
