Here are a few shots from the '72 assy manual. Not sure how much help they are... What year is your car? (looks like 69 in the picture...)

Those instructions are are a lot of help if you don't have have them.
They're about the best illustrations of the installation I could find.
The holes for the threaded studs on the brackets are already in the channel like the instructions say, the whole units sits off-center to the passenger's side and they're the only two it will line up with. Just locate it in those holes and mark the front holes for drilling, the template is excellent for reference but it makes no sense to try and measure it if you have the case. I set everything up with the player out of the case. A lot of them are broken installing or removing the units and just handling it when they're out. The plastic they used is brittle as glass and the units are bigger and heavier than they look. The cases also get broken because the rear brace is missing, one good bounce or somebody kicking it and it can crack it across the front where it screws to the unit and on the sides, a lot of weight pivoting off those hangers.
I've been working on installing mine and the brace was missing so I made one last night. It just has a couple of simple angled bends that take hours to figure out.

I can take pics of anything you need to see, wiring is pretty straight forward so that should be no problem unless the plugs are cut off. They're are only two small holes needed for the sheet metal screws in the front brace tabs, one for the brace into the heater case if you don't have A/C.

I took a couple of pics with an old housing, can't really see a lot. Maybe they didn't have the holes pre-punched/drilled in '69 since it was the first year for the underdash? I know how it mounts in the '71.
The mounting studs are 14-3/8 inches apart on-center. The holes in the channel are 7/8 inches to the center from the back of the channel, tape hooked on back edge.
Find the centerline of the dash then measure 9-5/8 inches to the right for the centerline of the hole in the channel on the right and 4-3/4 inches to the center for the hole on the left. The front holes you mark when you test fit the housing. The center of the dash is the left side of the blue tape in the pic, to double-check the center is 3-1/8 inches from the left end of the piece that projects out of the front and fits under the dash between the front pad or surround. If all goes well I'll have mine in completely on Friday if you want a pic of that. Does your car have AC? Those front tabs are covered by the valance if so, some of the bracing has to be cut off the back of the valance after it's cut off to fit around them.
