Some one was asking is there a differance between big block & small block oil pans? The oil pump is deeper on a big block. Big block oil pan is deeper then the small block oil pan. You can use a big block oil pan on a small black with the big block oil pump pick-up, but you can't use a small block oil pan on a big block.

And if you checked that other thread, you'd have seen this photo, which clearly shows that the BBO pan (center) and SBO pan (rear) have exactly the same depth sump. The ONLY difference is the two "bumps" in front of the sump.
