Yeah, castle or slotted hex is ideal for me.

It says it's 1.5-inch in size, but is that for the diameter of the hole or the entire nut? Because the nuts I have on my car have 1-inch wide holes, but the entirety of the nut is 1.5-inches wide.

They are listed as having a 24mm x 1.5 thread and use a 36mm socket.

Is the axle thread just under an inch in diameter? And do you need a wrench just under 1½" for it?

If not, then don't waste your time. Check your PMs instead.

You should be able to find this fairly easily now.
Funny thing is the fitment shows for Hondas.
Randy, that was very smart sleuthing!

Allen I used to work in auto parts so finding hard to find parts was a bit of pride on my part.

Seems to me there's a lot you can teach some of the parts guys at the local stores. You should hire out as a training consultant for that!

I'm still impressed you know this stuff!

If all other efforts come up empty .....

Try Sparky (Greg).

He's had quite a few 1st gen cars, some that were parted out IIRC.

Thanks. I don't know if the first gen Toro nuts will fit the second, though.

Exclamation Much confusion

I've been following this thread from the beginning, hoping for a simple resolution to the need of Laqueesha. It would seem to me that everyone is missing one important piece of information- GM did not use metric fasteners on '66-'78 front drive axle shafts. The link to an aftermarket replacement part, most likely from China, shows a M 24 x 1.5 thread. That means that the dia. is 24mm, just under 1". The "1.5" is NOT the dia. of the thread, but the thread pitch. I checked with a parts manager, that I know, at a Caddy dealer and the part is N/A; also, they no longer list the specs of individual hardware in their "catalogs". It would seem to me that Eric has the answer for you if you would just respond to him. That's the end of my rant for today. Thanks, Bob.
