Front seat belt bracket hex bit size?

About to do an interior gut. Can someone tell me what size hex bit I need to remove the bolt that holds the front seat belt bracket? The bath in WD40 is a given

Thanks -

A hex recess bolt has six sides. That's a Torx bit.

Not 100% sure, but I think that is a T50 but might be a T55. They are the only two large ones I own.

As you might have guessed, they can be tough to get out. The back side might be covered in undercoating, making you smile a little more while grunting. You might consider cleaning the back side (threads) of it first before trying.

I have broken a few T50 or T55's on those. I do have one T60 for brake calipers.

Anyhow, for your seat belts, penetrating lube underside, and above. USE AN IMPACT if at all possible. Use a new fresh Torx bit. Clean the crud out of the torx recess. Hammer the bit down in if need be, for max contact. Hold it in tight while impacting. If she moves AT ALL, the apply lube and go the OTHER WAY back tight, then back loose, apply lube, repeat. Craftsman or better [snap-on, matco, mac] bits only. Not Auto Zine tools. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice all. It's a Torx T50 and both sides came out after a good soaking in WD40.

Now the fun and games begin!
