Looking For 59 Door Lock Part
Looking For 59 Door Lock Part
I have a 59 Dynamic 88 4dr celebrity sedan(post). Im looking for the steel rod that connects the plastic lock **** (the part you pull with your hand to lock the door) to the actual locking mechanism in the door, on the passenger side. The 59 service manual calls it a Front Door Inside Locking To Lock Rod Assembly. Im not certain if they differ from side to side or between 4dr hardtop and 4 dr sedan as the pictures in the service manual are kind of vague. If anyone out there has a parts car and is willing to sell one, let me know. Also my car came with some goofy 70's chrome lock *****, does anybody out there know what the factory ones are supposed look like? My guess is that they are plastic and color matched to the interior on a D88 and not chrome.
Thanks,
Mike

Welcome to the site Mike! John is restoring a 1959 and may be able to point you in the right direction. Here's a link to one of his threads:

I'd encourage you to send him a PM (private message) or email and introduce yourself. I'm also named John and live in Oregon... about 300 miles south of the other John

I've got this one that came from the passenger front door of a '60 Impala 4-door hardtop. Same from side-to-side on that car. My guess would be that it's the same as your '59 Olds. You could look at your driver side rod and compare it to this one. Roughly 13 3/4" long. I do have the retaining clip though not pictured. $12.50 postpaid to you.
