Looking for a 1967 Cutlass Supreme Type "O" rear axel housing
I've got my '67 Cutlass Supreme in the shop and the mechanic told me my rear axel housing is "fubar" and therefore the axel bearings can't seat in it properly. He says I need to find a new axel housing for the guts of my rear end (I had a posi put in it a few years ago that I'd like to keep, plus I want to keep the correct type of rear end to the car).
Does anyone have any leads on where I might find a housing for a 1967 Olds Type "O" 12-bolt axel? Or have any advice one what I should do?

I have an O-type 2.78 rear from a 68 Cutlass, complete except brakes. Also have an O-type bare housing from a 69 442. Both are not currently in cars. They should be the same as 67. The bonus is I live not far from you, so no shipping. Poulsbo 98370.

If indeed 68 is the same I'm pulling mine complete out sometime this winter and installing a Quick 9 inch. Mine is 2.78 non posi with 96k. Not abused or beat on. I'm in Az and might be pricey shipping but would sell at a fair price.

67-68 non-performance axle housing is P/N 230727. This is also the same P/N for all 1969 applications.
67-68 performance axle housing is P/N 230575.
The performance housing is for ratios 3.42 and numerically higher. I'm frankly not sure what the difference is, as the bearings (wheel, pinion, and carrier) are the all the same for both. The only difference is the axle shafts and the carrier, which shouldn't matter for the housing.

I'm down in Medford Oregon and have some extra rear ends. Would probably still need shipped but if you wanted a bare housing that would make it lighter. Let me know if you'd like to see pictures and a price.
I just took the time to read through all the posts. 442mark should be the first person you check with. If you can drive to pick it up that will save you money and trouble!

That's what I would have expected, but the parts book shows P/N 7451155 bearing for all 8.5" Type O axles. I know the HD axles used the same side gears as the 9.3" Type O. Does that mean that the carrier bearings are the ones for the big car axle also? That would be P/N 7451409, which is not what the parts book says (thought it wouldn't be the first time an oddball application was not listed).
31 spline carrier bearing = LM603012 (3.061" OD race/LM603049)
28 spline carrier bearing = LM501314 (2.890" OD race / LM501349)

Joe, I recorded the bearing numbers that were in my 31 spline O-Type and 28 spline O-Type but I don't have a cross reference to the GM part numbers.
31 spline carrier bearing = LM603012 (3.061" OD race/LM603049)
28 spline carrier bearing = LM501314 (2.890" OD race / LM501349)

28 spline carrier bearing = LM501314 (2.890" OD race / LM501349)
I have to apologize. I pulled the wrong page from the parts book. The correct page does show different bearings for the 67-68 31 spline axles. Mystery solved. Sorry for the bad info.
The 31 spline carrier bearing is P/N 7451140, which crosses to LM603012. This is the same P/N for a Chevy 12 bolt and the 9.3" Type O from the full size cars.
The 28 spline carrier bearing is P/N 7451281, which crosses to LM501314.
