Large valve heads

Need large valve heads for a 350. I need the ones with smaller combustion chambers also. I think they are #5 and #7 or 7a heads. I don't mind if they are in rough shape because I'm going to be rebuilding them. I have small valve heads and would rather not spend extra money on getting them machined. Thanks.

If you are rebuilding the heads anyway,it shouldn't matter if they are large or small valve. You're already in there.

He probably doesn't want to incur the extra expense of the larger valves.

I am not trying to hi-jack this but..... Just curious what the cost would be a a typical machine shop to machine a pair of heads for the larger valves. What would the whole parts cost be? I have small valve #5's and have been curious to to this. Just asking....

The shop I use would cost $6 per valve. $96 for a pair of heads.

Here is thier price list.

I wouldn't reuse a set of 40yr old valves anyway. There are better materials out there, and it's not worth chancing.I've seen too much happen when a stock valve fail, then take a whole lot with it.

I have the new valves but the place I went to said it would be about 400 in labor for the enlargement of the valves and a valve job. And thats without the price of the actual valves. Now I need valve guides as well and I didn't want to dump 5-600+ into these heads. I am going to keep looking around for prices though because I already spent money on these heads in the first place.

Wow! The cost to machine for the larger valves(intake only) is $50.00 per head here locally. The valve job needs donme regardless,as well as guides & such,so the additional cost of rebuilding a pair of heads should be about $100.00 plus the valves, which again, should be changed anyway.I would not bother enlarging the exhaust to the aftermarket 1.71" size.It hasn't shown to to much of anything on these Olds engines, but the larger intakes valves do.

$400 for the pair isn't bad if its a COMPLETE rebuild with larger valves, new valve guides, resurfacing, tanking, magnaflux, 3 angle valve job. I had a guy quote me $1200 here local (not the link I posted).... I laughed and left.
