54.5" Driveshaft
54.5" Driveshaft
I just replaced my 66 Type B 2.93 for a new Type O 3.42 rear from Brian & the driveshaft is too long. I can probably get it shortened but I was wondering if anyone had one. As stated it in the title, it should be about 54.5" Shipping would be to 13148
Thanks,
Mike

Where are you getting the dimension from? Driveshafts are typically measured from center to center on the u-joints. I have a very large collection of clean driveshafts and a book that lists them by application. What transmission are you using? Let me know: drolds1@bellsouth.net. I'm in south Florida. Thanks, Bob.

How about 54 3/8"? I just went through my massive collection of driveshafts (~80-100!) and I have one that was fresh from the shop and only used for ~ 1000 miles before we pulled it and installed a 700R4. It has a T-400 yoke, which I know that you can't use. Do you need a yoke to go with the Muncie trans? Thanks, Bob.

I sent you an e-mail back

In case anyone else ever goes through this I ended up having it done at Fleet Pride. It cost $77 to shorten it which included balancing. We have a corporate account so I'm sure that helped but it's hardly worth the effort to find a used one.
Thanks everyone for your help.

The length depends on the yoke and rear end you have. I have 2 different yokes that fit the M20 and they are differnt by 1/4". Your length may not be 54.5".
