I require a lead on a good builder or a freshly built (with ZERO miles) trans to slide in behind a 455.

Does anyone know if they make a bell housing kit or adapter plate or has anyone attempted to put a 6 speed manual behind a 455?

Lakewood Quicktime and McCleod both make T56 bellhousings. TCI makes Chevy to BOP adapter plates, but you could just get a Grand National or Cutlass 200-4R. I would look on Turbo Buicks to see what the reps are on 200-4R builders. A builder local to me that had an excellent rep on Turbo Buick doesn't like to build for cars that did not have them originally because if you don't set the TV cable correctly it will burn them up. I think a seller doing a conversion had an issue and he rather not deal with it. Make sure its not a stock build on that 200-4R whatever you do....

 

My understanding is that Bowtie Overdrives has quality 200-4Rs at affordable prices. They also have the TV cable kits. Good luck.

 

I went with the bowtie overdrives "765" trans. Its a bullet proof build. The 4L65E guts inside a 700r4 case with the 700 valve body and their own tv cable system, "tv made ez". It'll handle 650hp and 650ft#tq. They cut the factory bell off and installed an ultra bell for me.

Because of the TV cable issue (bad adjustment=burnt trans) alone I'd prefer the 6 speed manual. I want the cruisability of more gears besides the 3 speed TH350, or TH400.

I'm going to have to scour the internet for some info for sure.

 

Absolutely no issues with tv adjustment with their cable system. Its idiot proof. You hook it up, floor your gas pedal and its adjusted. You then have the cable on a cam that hardens or softens the shift. Thats your only adjustment. Trust me, Its a bad *** trans that'll brake **** on its stiffest setting! I have it as soft as it'll go and my wife still complains about it shifting to hard. LOL
