1986 Olds Full Size Power Antenna

Okay, it's getting to me. I thought I could live with the non-op power antenna, but today at the car wash, I couldn't stand it any longer. Anyone have a used one in working condition or a NOS one?

Thanks!

Matt

Just a quick tip, these should still be pretty easy to source in yards for about 20 bucks or so.
Many of the GM fender / rear quarter antennas used in the 80s (and maybe in the early 90's) are pretty similar for the most part (you can tell by looking at them) but the top bezels (screw parts) and brackets are what makes them car-specific.
Look for ones that are down already and on cleaner looking cars - chances are better that they still work. I have been lucky at least.
If you want to repair your existing one, mast / cable repair kits are available from GM, but might cost you up to 60 bucks, less if you shop around.
I found that the mast kit for my 97 Caddy is the same for my 86 Olds! I went the junkyard route though...

Have you checked Fusicks and Kanter for an OE replacement?

Haven't checked around yet. I did see an NOS one on ebay a few weeks back, they wanted like 160 for it...seemed like a lot. This isn't a show car, just a nice driver. I just want something that will go down when the radio is off...I guess I am getting fussier as I get older. Ten years ago I would have been riding around with a coathanger and been happy with it as an antenna!

I didnt think so either, but often these guys have access to lots of used parts, so it would not be much of a loss to ask em if getting one at a local yard fails.

$15 in my part of the world. You can also buy the mast and cable brand new from GM and rebuild the old one if you prefer.
