1973 - 1977 Cutlass / 442 supreme etc 3.42 posi rear end needed

I am looking for a complete rear end for my 1977 Cutlass Supreme. 3.08 would be acceptable but a 3.42 would be best. I am currently running a 2004R trans with a final of 0.067 so it would be easy on RPM's at cruising speed.

I have been told that any 1973-1977 GM A-body (Cutlass, Chevelle, LeMans, Century, Regal, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix) rear end will fit other than some may have 9.5 inch pads where mine has 11 by 2 inch pads. ??

I am located in North Alabama but willing to pay freight to my location.

All help and leads are appreciated. Go Oldsmobile !!!!

Greg in Tuscumbia, Alabama

PM Jim from JD Race His member name is monzaz 78 tp 96 B body rears fit also. Two different size ring gears in all those cars, Two different size lug patterns. ,Two different size brakes . Brake backing plates and brakes can swap between. If your car has a 7.5 pinion gear and you change to an 8.5 you will need to shorten your driveshaft 1.5 " Very few of those cars came with 3.42 rears. Most likely tyou will have to have one built. Maybe Jim has one built already

I'm pretty sure that they didn't use the 7.5" rear in these ('73-'77) cars. Also, the 7.5 refers to the ring gear diameter.

Thanks for the edit A quick way to tell a 7.5 from an 8.5 Lookin at the rear cover. The bottom of a 7.5 housing has " dragon teeth" protrusions at approximately 4 and 8 o'clock pointing down. The bottom of an 8.5 housing , in the same locations , has squared off protrusions Good luck in your search Beware some year wagons are a different width
