Any idea on the part number? I have one that came with a 72 so it might be different. I dunno for sure. I guess you could say I don't know "Jack"!

I won't be able to get the part number for you until tomorrow...and I can send you some pics then too if you want. From what I recall it is in good shape, just needs to be cleaned and painted.

I just happen to have my cradle and the stand with me in the house, there are no part numbers on either item thought the cradle has an F-85 stamp on it with a "U" under it - both items are grey or gray

4-Ever pics would be great.

Who would think a jack would be so difficult to get hold of !!!!!

Mine says F-85 U and then 406925 on the cradle from my 70 SX Convertible. Not sure if it is original but it is what came with the car.

I just looked at mine the other night and I want to say the part number started with a "411..." but I can't remember for sure. I'll confirm it tomorrow and post some pics too....if I can wait that long...the curiosity is killing me!!!

Coltsneck:

I checked out the jack tonight and my memory was better than I thought! The part number on the one I have is 411611 and it is stamped with the letter "A"..which I'm guessing stands for "A-Body"? Here's the pics...

I'll look in the morning. I believe it was when I was facing the Hook. Sorry for the poor pic. This one is cracked at the top near the bolt that goes on the jack

Thanks for the photos, but one of the bases above is not correct in my opinion. It shows the shaft hole to be more of a square. I think it should be more like the photo further below:

Its just above the hook on the face of the cradle. In one of my photos of the cradle, the non-close-up, you can kinda see where the number is stamped. Sounds like your "399..." or "425..." might be the part number for yours.

There are GM A-body jacks with square tubes also from what I have seen. I think alot of this just depended on which plant the cars were made in and who the supplier happened to be at any given time. Here's a pic of one of the "square tube" shafts that I have. I don't know if I have the base for this one or not...haven't looked in a while.

The other types are the "triangular tube" (most common on 70-72 I think...not a true triangle but you get the idea) AND the "T-Post" which is the non-tubular solid shaft (more prevalant on pre-'69 cars).

Here's a couple pics of the "Square Tube" type shaft:

For what it's worth, all my 69's have the triangular hole in the base with hollow triangular shaft.

I think there was a dealer bulletin at the time about some of the 69 A-body cars getting the wrong jack. I'll have to look for it.
