1969 heads

I have not been on here in a long time but trying to get back to car. Won't go into all the details, but found I had one cylinder with no compression and pulled the heads. Found a leaking exhaust valve and took them to a machine shop. They cleaned them up and just called to tell me both are cracked .

Anyone have replacement #5 heads available? Willing to consider #6 or #7a if i have to. Cores or complete, let me know.

Dane, I have some #3's. From what I understand they are as good as 5's.
Let me know if you can use them.

On those 3's, just make sure you take a beveled drill bit and hit the pushrod holes. They're made for the 45 degree cam and get danger close to pushrods when using them on a later engine. Otherwise, stick a big valve in 'em and they'll be just fine with smaller combustion chambers.

Dan Mascal or Dr Dan on ROP is selling #5 heads on Real Olds Power. He is a stand up guy, pretty sure I bought my 403 T/A mounts off him for the Olds 4x4. He was GM mechanic for years, helped me online by sharing his knowledge and a successful Olds racer. He is from Florida. The #3 heads will work, as said may need clearancing and will boost compression over a set of untouched #5, 6 or 7 heads.

#5 heads

I have several sets of #5 heads. I can provide them as cores or ready to bolt on, including opening up bolt holes to 1/2" for late model blocks. Email me direct: drolds1@bellsouth.net. Thanks, Bob.

Thanks for all the leads and I'm following up on several. I may have more specific questions on what to tell the machine shop if I go with the #3's.

Dane:
I have a set of #7 cores off a '71 Supreme and a set of 7a (with valves) off a '72 Supreme. The 7a heads came off a running engine but they have been in my garage for 4-5 years so probably worth freshening up at the least. I'm in Houston so logistics shouldn't be too difficult.

Thought I should post an update, better late than never. I did get some #5 heads from Bob and had his shop rebuild them so they were ready to bolt on. Fastenal took longer than expected to deliver and I took longer than expected to install, but they are on and the car is running well again. Thanks for all the leads and found lots of tips on re-assembly by searching old posts and from Bob himself. Been a long time since I have been this deep into an engine and it really went pretty smoothly. This is a great forum and resource.
