1965 starfire overflow tank

Looking for a "stock" overflow tank for a 1965 Oldsmobile Starfire that mounts on the front of the passenger side inner fender. If anybody has one or knows where I can find one, I would appreciate any help.. Thanks Eric

I don't think coolant overflow tanks were included on 1965 cars. My '67 Delta 88 doesn't have one nor a provision for one that I can see. The '65 chassis service manual has a diagram showing simply an "overflow hose" coming off the radiator cap and directed toward the ground.

I think it was several years later before overflow tanks became standard equipment.

Ok thanks... Mine has a overflow line attached to a nipple on the side of the radiator, just under the radiator cap. The line ran to the cap of the overflow tank. The tank was moulded to fit the inner fender and match the countour of the fender with matching holes that appear to be from the factory. I have two of them but both are leaking at cant be patched together any longer. I dont know if it may have been an option thing because of the upgrades in motor, power top, power windows, power seat, etc. I was just hoping someone may have had something I was looking for.. Thanks Eric

My guess is that what you have is an aftermarket overflow tank, and someone found one that's a good fit for the space available under the hood.

I've seen a fair number of old cars at shows where an aftermarket overflow tank was added. It's a very sensible thing to add.

Here is an overflow on a 63 Starfire. I don't know if it is original on the car, but I have seen one and it looked good. That is why I took this picture and I have been looking for one ever since. No luck so far.

That's an aftermarket kit sold in auto parts outlets that was popular in the '60's and '70's.

Thanks for the information. I didn't think it was original, but it sure fits in the open space next to the windshield fluid bottle perfectly.
