Tristar Radiator in NY rebuilds them.

The 64 tank is different enough from the 65-later that the one you found in the other thread won't work. 64 mounts on front vertical wall of the tank instead of the top.

They are also different between airconditioned and non airconditioned cars.

What I'd like to see is a reproduction 61-64 Olds fuel tank. The repop tank guys say the Chevy/Buick ones don't fit the Olds, but they damn sure look alike to me.

On sending unit, Chevy uses 5/16" fuel line and Olds uses 3/8". Not an insurmountable problem, but enough to be aggravating.

They certainly don't make sending units new for the full-size Oldsmobiles that I've ever found, at least for models prior to 1971. However, since the Chevy/Pontiac fuel tanks are so similar in appearance to the Olds tanks, I wonder if a sending unit for a '64 full-size Chevy, which IS made new, would fit or could be made to work.

Rockauto.com, for one, sells new sending units for full-size Chevies. It's part number FG89A for the one without the return line, and part number FG89B with the return line. Each is only about $40, and for that price, it might be worth risking buying one and trying to make it work.

I will show my ignorance, and you all can have a good laugh at my expense.

I have owned quite a few '59 to '63 era Olds. That being said, I have no idea what a "fuel sending unit" is, what it does or where it is located?

By all means do edge-you-cate me!

In the tank. Works the gauge. It's what the line hooks up to

Yes, what we mean is fuel GAUGE sending unit. Mounted on the tank with wires and fuel lines running to it.

Had the word GAUGE been used, I would have understood. Thanks!

Would a 64 88 Sending unit be the same as a 64 Jetstar 88 unit? It may be easier to find one and have it rebuilt without having my car be immobile for two months while it is being rebuilt. Thanks

Yes. All 1964 Oldsmobile B and C body (88/98/Starfire) use the same tank and sending unit.

Bad thing is according to 1973 parts book it's a one year only application. Grp 3.107 p/n 6425407, 1964 except station wagon or F85.
