Hi Darren
I've got a core 1954 324 engine that has the draft tube on it. I don't know if its the same as what was used on the 1955 but I can take some photos of it this afternoon for you to check out.

The draft tube should be the same for 54 and 55.

Thanks redoldsman. With stock gearing, and tire size, what would be your estimated RPM at 70 mph? I've read that these cars had anywhere from 3.23 to 3.42 rear gear ratios.

At 70mph my 54 is running about 3,000 rpm's. I think it has 3:36 gear ratio but I am going off memory.

Thanks redoldsman. That would explain only seeing oil leaking I suppose when he is running down the highway without a draft tube.

Here's pictures of the one I have. It is off a 1954 324 that had a slant pan transmission attached to it. I removed it last summer but still have the bolts. Its pretty covered with oil but where its scraped off the metal looks good not rusty. The filter at the end needs a serious bath! Let me know if you need any measurements or close-ups of any areas to determine if this is what you need. If your interested send me a PM or email with your address and I'll get a price including shipping for you. John

Thank you but it looks like I found one. If it doesn’t look good I’ll be in touch though!

Thanks Again

That is the heavy duty one. 69Chrgr I will tell you that you can't buy from a better person than 2blu442 (John). His prices are reasonable and his parts are good.

Thanks redoldsman. Unfortunately I have already paid for the one in Arkansas, however if it's not suitable I'll definitely go with 2blu442's. Now I need to find a gasket, if not I guess I have to make one.

That is a pretty easy gasket to make. You won't find one without buying a complete engine overhaul set.
