I'm curious too, because the set I got last fall for $40 looked pretty nearly the same, once I cleaned them up...

If you found a set of these covers , in this condition , with 5 bolt holes , for $40 I am happy for you!

If you are a serious buyer I will negotiate price a little. Otherwise I will be happy to keep them.

Almost isn't good enough....in life you have to score/make decisions/be correct. Almost only counts with horseshoes and hand grenades because you can be close and still hit your target.

You get points in horseshoes for coming close even if your horseshoe doesn't circle the post and fall at its foot. Likewise, you inflict injuries with a grenade that lands close but misses the exact target.

The proverb uses "only," however, and that is the key word because it indicates that you get NO credit for "almost" hitting your target (achieving your goal) in any endeavor outside of horseshoes and (throwing) grenades.

personally Im curious to why the price is so high ??? it has been asked but not answered.. I know items are worth what somebody will pay .. but what makes these
so special ... mondello scripted are not even this much ??? Im not making any accusations but i thought the idea here is to help other members... you have the
right to ask whatever you want but personally i dont believe that you should be asking this much ... i really believe a top price would be bout $140 ... please school me why im wrong so if i see these for sale @ 200 i can buy and resale for 400 ....

IMO I would have expected one of 2 responses...

1. these are extremely rare covers and 400 is a steal ..

or

2. im sorry i didnt realize the value of these ...

this is just my opinion ... I believe whats fair is fair ... I see some (im not saying you) price gouge things and IMO it makes me sick ...

It must be like coin or stamp collecting -- the rarest, most valuable items are the ones that came out 'flawed', like the Barber 1892 micro-O half dollar. These valve covers have fewer holes drilled for the bolts, which was an Edelbrock factory error, so they are fantastically rare and valuable.

At least, the total lack of information as to why these are so pricey would seem to make this as viable a theory as any other...

OK guys, a friendly reminder that the purpose of this thread is for the OP to offer parts for sale. It is NOT for others to critique his pricing structure. If you have a serious question for him I suggest you send him a PM. John

None the less, a question ( what makes them worth 400) pertaining to a possible sale has been asked and not answered.
I would like to know too.

The question was asked and the seller did not respond, so let it drop. If your seriously interested in the valve covers send him a PM to make an offer. If you have questions about the valve covers send him a PM. This thread has the potential for people to start flaming one another over their opinion of what the parts are worth. That's happened in the past and we're not going to go there. The OP has the right to ask whatever price he wants for the parts and others have the right to purchase or pass on the parts. John
