Fuel tank 70-72 Cutlass

I'm not sure which year this is from, if that is important you probably know anyway. I was told the tank was taken out of a car not long after new when the car was made into a race car. Decent condition for 50 years old. Outside has some surface rust, inside is very clean with a tiny surface rust spot visible. I'll try to clean it up and get some better photos. $100 pickup central Illinois.

Suggest you indicate how many vents are on the tank and location(s). Images would help. ‘70 - ‘72 Cutlass tanks are not all the same. 2 or 3 vents?

I see three vent tubes at the front of the tank, which implies a 1971/72 tank. The three vent tubes connect to the liquid/vapor separator behind the back seat.

Joe, could it also be for 1970 with the California Evaporative Emission Control NA9?

Good question. I'm trying to figure out what the 70 cars used, but I'm on travel all week and don't have access to my library.

‘70 with 35NA9 (CA emissions) had 3 nipple vents in the same location as the image of the tank offered.

In ‘70, the standard 20-gallon tank had 2 vent connections in the location as shown in the image.
